Only very few patients are aware that headaches and backaches as well as muscle tension can be caused by the teeth or jaw. This is where functional therapy comes in.
The jaw, the head, and the musculoskeletal system form a functional unit. If the interaction of this unit is disrupted, for example by teeth grinding, it can stress the joints of the jaw and lead to painful muscle tension, which is often associated with severe headaches. Through targeted functional therapy, these aches can be reduced or, at best, even eliminated.
To obtain a conclusive diagnosis, we will take dental casts of the upper and lower jaw to examine the masticatory system. In case of any dysfunction, we can offer you several treatment options including a splint therapy, grinding the preliminary contacts, or a bite elevation or abatement.
